NEW DELHI – Manasa Yendluri, a newcomer in Telugu and Shani S. Hameed, physiotherapist and founder, director and child rehabilitation specialist at Alfa Pediatric Rehabilitation Center, received awards from the Women’s Manifesto New Delhi at the Women’s Summit 2021.

The New Delhi Women’s Manifesto hosted the 2021 Women’s Summit virtually on December 30, 2021. Dr Rashmi Singh, IAS, Special Secretary-Director, Department of Women and Child Development and Department of Social Welfare, Govt. from NCT Delhi, was the guest of honor at the event.

Manasa graduated in Psychology and English Literature and did his MA in Linguistics at the University of Hyderabad.
Her father, Professor Sudhakar, and her mother, the late Dr. Putla Hemalatha, were also prominent Telugu writers.
Most of her short stories are about women from a variety of backgrounds. It focuses more on the plight of educated Dalit Christian women in the urban setting. She has also written stories about queer characters as an ally.
His works have been translated into English and have been appreciated across the country.
She also translated the novel by famous Marathi writer Sharan Kumar Limbale into Telugu. She has received numerous awards for her stories of prolific Telugu writers.
Shani S. Hameed is another winner of the Women’s Manifesto New Delhi.
Hameed won this award for his initiative called ALFA. ALFA is one of the leading pediatric rehabilitation and child development centers established in 2012 and started operations with a 100 square foot clinic in Changampuzha Nagar, Kochi, Kerala.
About 10 children received pediatric physiotherapy treatment in the first year. In 2013, the center expanded its own center by over 1,000 square feet with a greater emphasis on early intervention programs. The program includes a medical assessment of speech therapy, occupational therapy and special education.
Speaking about ALFA, she said: âThe vision of ALFA is to improve the quality of life of children with special needs, to feed them for an independent existence and to support their parents to bring them back into the mainstream. of the society “.
“With targeted early intervention therapies and multidisciplinary team approaches, the center could make significant progress in the rehabilitation of children with special needs,” she added.
Alfa has been recognized for its work over the past 9 years in the field of rehabilitation, for its coordination of over 50 Alpha team members with over 100% female representation, and for its efforts to make so that women who have had a career break due to having independent disabled children.
According to her, Alfa has received many state-level accolades since 2014, this year’s national recognition, Alfa is proud to be able to grow from the one-member team of the converted Car Porch center to more than 50 team members. today to serve more than 200 children per day in 5 centers across Kerala.
âNow I serve over 200 children who come from different parts of Kerala. Among them, 100 children come from a very precarious financial situation and cannot afford the costs of treatment or travel expenses. I provided the same quality of service regardless of their financial capacity, âsaid Hameed.
